HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT

The Faculty of Mathematics, consisting of the Department of Applied Mathematics & Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) and the Department of Pure Mathematics & Mathematical Statistics (DPMMS), is committed to achieving the highest standards of education and research. With this comes the responsibility to uphold the health, safety and welfare of staff (permanent and temporary), students and any other persons who may use and/or visit the Faculty’s premises or who may be affected by the activities of the Faculty.

The Faculty will take all reasonable steps necessary to provide a healthy and safe environment for work and study. Compliance with all legal and statutory obligations is the minimum standard. To fulfil this commitment, we will implement the health, safety and welfare policies of the University of Cambridge and supplement them with local departmental policies and guidance as necessary.

The University of Cambridge Health and Safety Policy can be accessed here: https://www.safety.admin.cam.ac.uk/files/hsd016m.pdf.

The Faculty expects the full commitment of its staff, students, visitors and others to put this policy into practice. Every individual has a duty to take reasonable care of their own safety and that of others, to cooperate on all health and safety matters and report all health and safety concerns to the CMS Health, Safety and Environment Committee.

The formulation and review of Faculty health and safety policy, guidance and the monitoring of health and safety requirements, implementation and performance is the responsibility of the CMS Health, Safety and Environment Committee.
